Patti Fontaine Bio

I initially trained as a registered nurse and worked in Canada and Europe. After travelling and living in various places in Europe and Canada, I now reside in Peterborough, Ontario.

Although I am not formally trained in painting, I have studied with artists and instructors from Canada and the United States in various workshops. Throughout the years, I eventually found my own voice in my painting.

I have worked in many medias such as oils, watercolour with finally settled on acrylics. I found that acrylics give me the versatility to communicate my feelings in art. I find that I can express the essence of nature in this medium. I receive inspiration from the forest in which I now live. I am also particularly interested in painting motion, light and energy using colour and texture.

My work always begins with pouring or applying paint and textures until I can see the direction in which the Painting wants to go, then I can focus on its completion.

I strive to create paintings that are new and different, as well as having something to say to the viewer.
